4K vs 1080p Full HD TVs

When HDTV was first introduced to replace SD - Stadard Definition TV, they comes in 3 favours, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

720p : 1280x720 progressive
1080i : 1920x1080 interlace
1080p : 1920x1080 progressive

Now in 2014, TV manufacturer are coming out with their latest UHD TVs commonly called the 4K TVs.

UHD - Ultra High Definition simply defined as resolutions of "at least 3,840x2,160 pixels". But most manufacturers refer their UHDTV as 4K TV.

4K TV means 4 X times the resolution of Full HD 1080p resolution. 1080p has resolution of 1920x1080. If you put 4 Full HDTVs together, they will form the resolution of a 4K TV which is 3840x2160.

How To Fast Charge your mobile phone using computer USB port

Have your ever tried charging your mobile phone using your office computer USB port or laptop USB port. Very often your will find your handphone charge up very slowly using the USB port. Many end up bringing your power adapter to your office to charge your mobile or buying a 2nd power adapter for use in your office.

I too face the same problem of slow charging handphone but don't want to spend the extra bucks buying a second power adapter. After doing some research on mobile phone charging. I finally found the solution.

The reason why a USB port charged so slowly is because your mobile phone draws lesser current from the USB port if it detect it as a USB port. If a power adapter is plug in to your mobile phone. It will detect it as a AC supply and draws more current to charge up in double quick time!

Using just a USB cable, the mobile phone charges in USB mode.

So the solution to make your handphone charge faster despite being plug in to a computer USB port is simple. Trick the mobile phone into believing that it is being plug into a AC supply. To achieve this, we simply need to added in this fast charge usb adaptor between your computer USB port and your USB cable! Your mobile will think that it is connected to a AC supply and started drawing more current to charge itself faster!

Using a Fast Charge Adapter and a USB able, mobile phone charges in AC mode

Is there any danger or tradeoff to this trick? No danger to your handphone since it is your handphone that draws the current. So it will not overcharge itself since it is in control. How about your computer? Well, it need to supply more current to your mobile phone so it will use more electricity. For desktop, no concern since it is using power plug. For laptop, your battery will drain faster.

So what so special about this quick charge USB adaptor? For those into technical, this adaptor basically short the DATA+ and DATA- of the USB signal. The shorting of DATA+ and DATA- will signal to the mobile phone that it is connected to a AC power supply.

The Fast Charge USB adapter costs about $7, much cheaper than buying a second power adapter!
